Today we'd like to introduce you to Coach Randy.

Coach, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I originally started in the Art of Stepping when I was a Junior in High School in Louisiana. Continuing on for 12 years, I built a successful organization in the state of Louisiana formally known as 'Xtreme Step Team'. Among those 12 years, Xtreme Step Team was featured on B.E.T.'s former hit show 106&Park W.O.W. and All-Star W.O.W., a preliminary act for the 2011 Bayou Classic Greek Show & Battle of the Bands inside of the New Orleans Superdome (now known as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome), including being one of the most award-winning youth step teams in Louisiana with a Host of other amazing opportunities, also during this time I was offered the opportunity to serve on the Judges' Panel for 2-episodes on Lifetime's Hit TV Show BringIT.

After relocating to Dallas, Texas, the innovative Coach Charkeitha Ramey-Director/Founder of Xplosive Dance Company (XDC) gave me an opportunity to display my talent as an award-winning Step Coach by adding what is now known as the Xplosive Grenades Step Team under the umbrella of XDC. I formed this team under the Motto of: Hardwork, Dedication, Unity, and Scholarship, which embedded an opportunity for me to not only Coach them but to also offer Mentoring throughout their High School years. I'm always asked, "why do I Coach?" and I always mention that the Mentoring side is my "why". Since the formation of the Xplosive Grenades Step Team, they went from being the underdogs to being one of the Top Youth Step Teams in Texas, along with appearing on Lifetime's Hit TV Show BringIT with their sisters & brothers of XDC.

Xplosive Grenades Step Team has only been affiliated for 2.5 years but they have been thriving. Thriving to where we have chosen to expand and offer students (4th-12th Grade) in not only Dallas but also the GP, Arlington, & Mansfield area an opportunity to train under and travel with the award-winning Xplosive Grenades Step Team Organization. I am proud to be an advocate for "Our Youth is Our Future"; therefore I believe that it is my duty to continue to give our youth the opportunity to be apart of an innovative performing art within their community under the Motto: Hardwork, Dedication, Unity, and Scholarship. Great, so let's dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you've had to overcome?
One of the main struggles along the way was being accepted as a "new coach" in Texas and also being respected as a 12-year experienced Coach. It was not easy creating this team and gaining peoples' trust around me but what got me through and continues to get me through is remembering my "why?". As long as my kids (Mentee's) are enjoying their opportunity with Xplosive Grenades Step Team and thriving through school, graduating, being accepted into their dream college/university and following their dreams, it gives me the fuel to continue on this journey with them.

Xplosive Grenades Step Team – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the Head Coach and Co-Founder of the Xplosive Grenades Step Team in Dallas, Texas. Xplosive Grenades is an award-winning youth step team organization serving students in Dallas (surrounding areas) and GP, Arlington, & Mansfield with a Motto of: Hardwork, Dedication, Unity, and Scholarship.

Being the Head Coach of XG Step Team, I am known for the love that I have for my kids on the team and the innovative routines, looks, and themes that the Xplosive Grenades Step Team executes at every performance and competition.

I am most proud of seeing members of Xplosive Grenades Step Team, graduate high school and embark on their journey to their dream college.

What sets Xplosive Grenades Step Team apart from others is our Motto: Hardwork, Dedication, Unity, and Scholarship, which displays that we are more than just a step team, we are also a Mentoring program for youth in our community.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As I go into my 15th Season of Coaching, my proudest moment has been every last moment because they all have given me growth and taught me lessons; resulting in me becoming an even better Coach.
